Reclaiming Shadow & Sol

Shadow & Sol began as my songwriting sandbox. Soon it will rise again, an epic of sound and story where wild minds find themselves in the wild sea.

Reclaiming Shadow & Sol

Before Neuroemergent
there was Shadow & Sol.

It started as my songwriting sandbox... a place to experiment anonymously without expectation. I wrote stories in song form using generative vocals trained on my own voice. Hearing a version of me singing my lyrics was surreal and strangely motivating.

It pushed me to take music seriously for the first time in a loooong time.

So I doubled down on learning the craft.

Committed to vocal lessons. To upskilling as a producer in Logic Pro. To singing and mixing until it sounded good. It is soooo uncomfortable dealing with the missed notes, the well-meaning critics, and the many, many playlist rejections. 🥹

But I'm learning that this discomfort is a sign that I'm growing. That I'm actually finding my voice... literally... and its resonating with others.

Now I’m ready. Ready to reclaim Shadow & Sol as Chris Lafe King.

Shanties of Shadow & Sol

Shanties of Shadow & Sol marks the next phase, where those songs and stories step out of the machine and into the real world. This project will blend music and fiction, myth and memory. Each shanty will tell a part of a larger connected story across a variety of storytelling formats about loss, resilience, and the ghosts we carry at sea and on shore.

Subscribers get a first look below at an early draft of one of my favorite reworks, “Map of Maybe" that I just recorded vocals for today.

That’s the chaos I’m shaping this weekend... so if you are looking for a deeper dive on a specific topic, check out a previous newsletter like Why Your Wild Mind Will Shape the Future With AI or Curiosity After Hours to get your fix.

Until next time! Keep shaping your chaos into something beautiful.
