Heroes Fall But Never Die?
This May the 4th, I’m reflecting on Star Wars, heroism, burnout, and self-worth alongside the release of my new single, "Heroes Fall But Never Die?" on streaming platforms, a new song built around an honest question about sacrifice, meaning, and what actually makes a life matter.
May the 4th feels like the right day to release this one. 🍿
I grew up on Star Wars.
Jedi, rebels, chosen ones. Heroes carrying impossible weight, sacrificing everything for something bigger than themselves.
I loved that.
Still do.
Early on, that kind of selfless heroism felt like the goal.
Be strong enough. Good enough. Selfless enough.
Carry more. Endure more. Keep going.
And somewhere along the way, I started applying that idea to myself.
What if my worth is measured by how much I can carry?
What if meaning comes from sacrifice?
What if I only matter if I keep proving it?
That’s the question underneath this song.
Heroes Fall But Never Die? is an invitation to reflect on this for yourself.
It’s me wrestling with whether self-sacrifice is truly how we live on… or just another lie we buy into while losing ourselves.
“I see my shadow when I burn bright
Burning out to fuel the light”
For me, this became about burnout.
About productivity.
About the dangerous thought that if I stop producing, stop helping, stop carrying… maybe I stop mattering too.
“Like those before
I bought the lie
That heroes fall
But never die”
But even heroes fall.
Even Jedi.
And over time, even legends fade, their lessons left for another generation to rediscover through their own sacrifice.
“I’m reaching out for help this time
No perfect plan
No pride of mine”
I’m not saying we don’t need heroes.
Of course we do.
(Don't worry Obi-Wan, I’m not going full Sith with absolutes here, lol.)
We need courage.
We need sacrifice.
But we also need to remember that a life is not only valuable for what it gives away.
Your presence matters too.
Your breath matters too.
You matter, even before you prove anything.
“So let each breath be your truth
Savor your life as precious proof”
So this May the 4th, this one’s for my fellow Star Wars fans…
And for anyone who’s ever forgotten their worth while trying to be everything for everyone else.
May the Force be with you.
And more importantly… may you be present with yourself.
